Welcome to the Olin College Introduction to Creative Writing course literary magazine. This AHS Foundation course was offered to incoming first-year students.
The work you see here was composed this fall in response to weekly writing prompts. While everyone was free to write about any subject and (usually) in any form, we explored different craft elements each week. Poetry exercises ranged from dramatic monologues to “object” or “list” poems, while short story prompts focused on dialogue or perspective.
In addition to writing, we also discussed literary texts and critiqued each other’s work, building a creative community while developing individual voices. The poems and short stories that appear in the 2023 issue were chosen by the students who wrote them.
